The main reason why Venmo is saying your card is already on file is that you have already linked your card to another Venmo account. However, it can happen due to several other reasons, so let’s have a detailed look below.

Well, let us tell you that you are not alone who is getting a message on Venmo that says that the card is already on file with another user. There are many like you. So, fret not.

Below are some complaints by netizens:

Sorry if this doesn’t belong here but I’m absolutely desperate. So I had two Venmo accounts with different cards on them, and decided that was unnecessary. I closed one down and attempted to add the card that was once associated with the account to my second account. I’m getting a message saying that the card is already on file with another user, which is impossible. Venmo customer support is utterly useless, anybody know what I can do?

Why Does Venmo says My Card is Already on file

If you cannot link your card to your Venmo account due to an error message “card is already on file,” then it means that your card is already linked to another Venmo account.

So, if you already have a Venmo account and have already linked your debit card to that account, you will not be able to add your card to the new Venmo account you are opening.

Also, if you had a Venmo account in the past, but you have deleted that account and your card was linked to that account, then also ‘Card is Already on file’ problem can arise on your new Venmo account.

However, this problem will usually arrive if you have recently deleted your Venmo account.
