Man’s Loving ‘Nursing Home’ gives Abandoned Older Dogs a New Lease on Life

In a world where the focus is often on young and energetic pets, Russell Clothier has created a haven for senior dogs.

Located in Missouri, Sheps Place is a sanctuary dedicated to caring for older dogs who have been abandoned or overlooked.

The idea for this sanctuary was inspired by Clothier’s own rescue dog, Shep, a 10-year-old Beagle-Basset Hound mix.

Seeing the need for a place where senior dogs could receive the care and attention they deserve, Clothier began volunteering at shelters.

Eventually, he decided to start his own project to provide a second chance for these often-forgotten companions.

Sheps Place offers a comfortable and loving environment for its canine residents.

The sanctuary features special showers for pets, a spacious yard for playtime, and cozy kennels for sleeping.

Clothier’s goal is to make the dogs feel as at home as possible, providing them with the same comfort and love they would experience in a family.

Beyond caring for the dogs, Clothier also aims to support the broader animal welfare community.

By taking in senior dogs from shelters, he helps to free up space for other animals in need.

Clothier’s initiative is a testament to his compassion and dedication to improving the lives of dogs of all ages.
